SUSTAINABILITY STATEMENT
At Clear Branding Ltd we carefully consider Sustainability, Environmental Awareness and CSR in all decisions that our business makes. We understand how our industry is viewed externally, and the importance that our industry continues to move towards Environmentally friendly future.
This statement will briefly outline the efforts we currently make, whilst highlighting our areas for continual improvement over the next 12 months.
We currently…
- Ensure environmental impact, sustainability and CSR are factored into very business decision
- Endeavour to source, and promote sustainable product options for customers. We always ensure that we are providing a sustainable product on every quote, and providing our customers with the justification of these items. We want to minimise the number of promotional items that are thrown away.
- Encourage our customer base to move away from single us plastics.
- Select our suppliers based on those who align with our company values. We use BPMA members as our first port of call on every order.
- Consider the packaging options available from our suppliers when selecting which products to quote our customers.
- Have reduced the amount of printing that is done by our staff, having moved to a majority paperless ordering & invoicing systems. Anything that is printed, is then reused as scrap paper, and then finally recycled into clearly marked bins.
- Have our entire heating sourced using wooden pellets.
Over the next 12 months we aim…
- To provide more transparency online of our core company values regarding our environmental impact, sustainability and CSR.
- To promote more information on the sustainability of our products, including information of their whole life cycle and how they can be disposed of responsibly.
- To clearly encourage our customers to recycle their packaging by dedicating an area of the website to this information.
- To continue to understand and learn about the eco credentials of our whole supply chain.
- To constantly monitor, assess and improve our environmental performance.
- To join ‘A Good Thing’ to reduce the amount of items that are sent to landfill, and to allow a second life for items, whilst saving charities money.
- To partner with a local charity who is close to our hearts. To allow an easy opportunity for us to support them, by donating products or volunteering where appropriate.
- To continue learning about new sustainable products, allowing us to promote these to our customer base, whilst providing more information transparently on our website.
- To increase training opportunities for our staff, including providing our manager with Mental Health First Aid Training, as we believe that this is as important as having a trained First Aider on site.
Recycling Information
Why Choose Wood?
Wood is a natural, renewable resource that, when sourced and managed responsibly, has a
minimal environmental impact. By ensuring our wood comes from fully certified sustainable
sources, we contribute to responsible forestry practices and help preserve our planet’s
ecosystems.
Additionally, wood boasts a significantly lower carbon footprint compared to most synthetic
materials, making it an eco-friendly choice for your projects. As an organic material, wood is
also easily recyclable or can naturally decompose over time, causing no harm to the
environment.
Sustainable Acrylic: A Circular Approach
Our acrylic is made from 100% recycled acrylic and remains fully recyclable at the end of its
life. This commitment helps prevent acrylic plastic from ending up in landfills, contributing
to a cleaner, more sustainable future.
Any acrylic bought from us, can be returned to us to recycle at the end of its life.
The Power of Aluminium: Sustainable and Infinite
Aluminium is one of the most sustainable materials available, thanks to its ability to be
infinitely recycled without losing any of its inherent properties. All the aluminium we use in
our products contains recycled content, making it a highly eco-friendly choice for your needs.
Aluminium can be recycled both commercially and domestically at the end of its useful life.
Bamboo
Bamboo is one of the most eco-friendly materials available, boasting certified quality &
sustainability, low emissions and is carbon neutral or better.
Bamboo can grow up to 50 cm per day, reaching heights of 20 meters in just a few years.
Once mature (after 4-5 years), it’s harvested, and remarkably, cutting the bamboo stimulates
further growth. This means that the plant doesn’t need to be uprooted, and it continues to
sequester carbon throughout its lifecycle.
Choose bamboo for a truly sustainable, carbon-negative material that supports a greener planet.
Recycling cardboard is an important step in reducing waste and conserving resources. Cardboard is one of the most widely recycled materials, and the process is fairly straightforward. Here's a breakdown of how cardboard is recycled:
1. Collection and Sorting
- Separation: Cardboard is collected and sorted at recycling facilities. It’s important to separate it from other types of waste and recyclables, like paper or plastic. Sometimes, facilities will further sort it into types—such as corrugated cardboard (the kind with fluted layers) or paperboard (lighter, like cereal boxes).
- Cleanliness: Clean, dry cardboard is ideal for recycling. Cardboard that has been contaminated with food, grease, or other substances may not be suitable for recycling, though some facilities can handle minor contamination.
2. Shredding
- Once sorted and cleaned, the cardboard is typically shredded into smaller pieces to make the recycling process more efficient.
- The shredded cardboard is usually broken down further into smaller fibres. These fibres are crucial in the creation of new cardboard or paper products.
3. Pulping
- Mixing with Water: The shredded cardboard is mixed with water and chemicals to break it down into a slurry, or "pulp." This process helps separate the fibers and prepares the material for the next stages of recycling.
- Removing Contaminants: During this step, any remaining adhesives, inks, or other contaminants are removed.
4. Dehydrating and Pressing
- The pulp is then dehydrated to remove excess water. After it is dried, it is pressed into flat sheets. These sheets are often referred to as "recycled paperboard."
- At this point, the recycled pulp can be processed into new products, such as new cardboard boxes, paper products, or insulation materials.
5. Reforming
- The dried pulp is then pressed into new sheets or rolled into large rolls for the production of new cardboard products. This can include packaging, boxes, or other forms of paper-based products.
6. New Products
- New Cardboard: The most common recycled product made from old cardboard is, of course, new cardboard or paperboard. This recycled cardboard can be used for making new boxes, packaging, and other related products.
- Other Products: Recycled cardboard is also used to create products like tissue paper, egg cartons, or even insulation. Sometimes, it’s even used in the production of paper towels or napkins.
Benefits of Cardboard Recycling:
- Conserves Resources: Recycling cardboard reduces the need to cut down trees, conserving natural resources.
- Energy and Water Savings: Making new products from recycled cardboard uses less energy and water compared to using virgin materials.
- Reduces Landfill Waste: By recycling cardboard, fewer materials end up in landfills, helping to reduce waste and promote sustainability.
Challenges:
- Contamination: Cardboard that has been soiled with food or grease (like pizza boxes) can be more difficult to recycle, although many facilities can handle small amounts of contamination.
- Transportation: The collection and transportation of cardboard to recycling centers can have an environmental cost, especially if the material is not efficiently handled.
Closed-Loop Recycling:
- Cardboard is often recycled in a closed-loop system, meaning the material can be reused many times to create new products without significant loss in quality. This helps support a sustainable, circular economy.
In short, cardboard recycling is a straightforward process that helps conserve resources, save energy, and reduce waste. Its widespread use and ease of recycling make it a key material in promoting sustainability.
